Production Team
Josh Hyde and Dan Fischer co-founded LoFu Productions six years ago during their undergraduate studies in the Cinema and Photography Program at Southern Illinois University. The two filmmakers naturally gravitated toward one another, both desiring to create socially conscious films that focus on sensitive social and global issues.
- Josh Hyde, writer/director/editor, was born to an American father and a Filipino immigrant mother in Carbondale, IL. Josh grew up excelling in foreign languages and art. After graduating from Southern Illinois University with a B.A. in Cinema and Photography, Josh left Carbondale for Cuzco, Peru, where he directed Despacho, a documentary examining the cultural exchange between western medicine and indigenous Peruvian shamanistic techniques. Josh then interned with Kartemquin Films, where he worked as a translator on The New Americans, met his mentor, Steve James (Hoop Dreams, Stevie, The New Americans, The Reel Paradise), and began writing the screenplay for Chicle.
Following a stint teaching digital filmmaking to inner-city teens in Chicago, Hyde entered the MFA program at Ohio University. In the summer of 2004, Hyde returned to Cuzco to shoot the short, Chicle, and is currently in the midst of seeking funding for the feature-length version of the film, as well as developing a novel and the feature length documentary, Last Man Standing .
- Adam Dylan York, Producer/Publicist, has provided public relations expertise to nonprofit organizations across America since graduating from Louisiana State University in 2001. He has written for and acted as Public Relations Director for LoFu Productions for more than five years. Last Man Standing is the brain child of York, and he plans to work closely with Hyde to capture Drew Landry’s story with the utmost sincerity and compassion. York, who was born in New Orleans, has been friends with Landry and his family since childhood. Hyde and York have also been friends for more than 15-years.
- Dan Fischer, Cinematographer/Producer, has worked on blockbuster films such as, Spiderman 2, Big Fish and The Weatherman, maintaining LoFu’s presence in the real world, and rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywood’s biggest power players. He has been instrumental in LoFu Productions’ success, shooting and producing both Despacho and Chicle. Dan currently has switched to independent films and recently shot, The Dread.
